Focusing on the importance of communication, the Accidental Counsellor Foundations workshop will provide you with a toolbox of counselling techniques that you can utilise to de-escalate situations and facilitate supportive conversations with people who are in crisis, highly distressed, or displaying angry, abusive, or manipulative behaviours.

By the end of the Accidental Counsellor Foundations Workshop, you will be able to:

  • recognise somebody who may be requiring support
  • utilise a toolbox of counselling techniques to facilitate supportive conversations and communicate more effectively
  • set boundaries while maintaining a healthy level of involvement
  • implement self-reflection, debriefing, and self-care strategies.

Equipped with active listening, calming techniques, and effective gentle questioning skills, you will be able to apply to many contexts the confidence, skills, and knowledge developed through the training.
